You're the greeter for an attraction, and you see a little boy who's 5 or 6 run up with a happy birthday button on. You measure him and find out that he's 1/2 an inch short. How do you break the news to him that he can't ride?

Let him ride anyway.

Tell him that unfortunately for his safety he cannot ride this ride, but I will offer some other fun alternative attractions to him, as well as see if he can get a special treat for his birthday.

Handling safety rules with young guests while keeping the magic alive is being tested here. Height requirements exist to protect riders, so the best approach is to explain the restriction clearly and kindly, then pivot to other ways to have fun. Telling the child that the ride isn’t safe for him at this height communicates the reason in simple terms, shows you care about his safety, and avoids blaming him or his birthday. Offering alternative attractions and, if appropriate, a birthday treat keeps the experience positive and involves the parent in finding a solution. This balance—safety first with empathy and proactive options—reflectsDisney’s guest-first mindset. B is the right choice because it delivers the safety message calmly, preserves the guest’s enjoyment, and provides a path forward rather than a dead end.

Ask parent to sign a waiver.

Ignore the issue.
